Social Change Exchange

Engaging every woman in the conversation.

Our Social Change Exchange is a forum for grant partners, donors, and the community to discuss social change issues impacting women in greater Milwaukee.

Our grant partners told us that they value space and time to talk about the shifting environment, their work, and strategies for achieving long term systemic change. We listened and created the Social Change Exchange as a space for conversations that help build the capacity of the community.

The Social Change Exchange allows the Women’s Fund to engage in the conversation, gain the perspective of our grant partners, and also enables us to lend our voice to the issues at hand.

The topic for our next  Social Change Exchange is sex trafficking in the greater Milwaukee area and will be held November 2, 2011, prior to our annual Women & Public Policy Luncheon. Other recent Social Change Exchange forums have explored the value of women’s leadership, the impact of the census, Milwaukee’s black infant mortality crisis, and building sisterhood between white women and women of color.

These are just a some of the comments from participants on what they plan to do as a result of attending a Social Change Exchange:

  • Increase the diversity of social change organizations in our coalition.
  • Be more involved! Get more young people engaged in social change efforts.
  • Seek out more causes to get involved with and/or donate to.
  • Check into volunteer opportunities in my own community to further this type of work.
  • Get more young women involved in our advocacy.
